Before & Afters Brazilian Butt Lift

As with any surgery, scarring is to be expected. However, the scars from Vaser liposuction are usually small and can fade over time. As everyone is different, how noticeable the scars appear once healed will always vary. In compliance with AHPRA's updated cosmetic surgery advertising guidelines, some before and after images have been blurred. If you would like to book an in-person consultation, we can discuss your specific goals and treatment options.

Brazilian Butt Lift At A Glance

The Brazilian Butt Lift (BBL) is a medical procedure that involves adding volume and changing the shape of the buttocks area. It involves removing fat from specific areas of your body and depositing that fat into the buttocks for a larger bottom.
Average Procedure Time 2-4 hours
Anaesthetic Type General
Hospital Stay Day
TIME OFF WORK 2 weeks on average depending on multiple factors
Average RECOVERY 6 weeks

Benefits

  • This procedure uses the patient’s own body fat to add volume and shape to the buttocks, avoiding the use of synthetic materials.
  • The process involves removing excess fat from areas such as the abdomen or thighs, which is then transferred to the buttocks.
  • Each BBL procedure is adjusted to the patient’s body and specific goals, providing a personalised treatment approach.

Potential Candidates

To determine your suitability for cosmetic procedures, including BBL surgery, our medical practitioners conduct thorough initial consultations. Here are some of the factors we consider when assessing if you’re a suitable candidate for BBL surgery:

  • You’re looking to target specific areas of fat rather than overall weight loss.
  • You’re in good overall health with realistic expectations about the procedure.
  • You are at a stable weight and are committed to a healthy lifestyle to maintain results.
  • You have good skin elasticity.
  • You don’t smoke – candidates must quit or refrain from smoking before and after the procedure.
  • You’re not pregnant or nursing
  • You understand that Vaser lipo is not a substitute for proper diet and exercise and should have realistic goals for the procedure.
  • You understand that Vaser liposuction, fat transfer and BBL, like any surgical procedure, comes with inherent risks and potential side effects, some of which can be permanent.

BBL Vs Butt Implants

Brazilian Butt Lift (BBL) and butt implants are two distinct methods of changing the shape and size of the buttocks.

  • BBL involves the transfer of your own fat from other body areas to the buttocks
  • Butt implants involve surgically inserting silicone implants into the buttocks

The choice between the two typically depends on personal preference, the amount of available body fat for transfer, and considerations around recovery and potential risks.

What To Expect From A Brazilian Butt Lift

Consultation

Your Brazilian Butt Lift journey at Levant Cosmetic Surgery starts with a consultation. Here, a qualified doctor will discuss your medical background, assess your current health, and understand your goals for the procedure. This session is important for determining if a Brazilian Butt Lift is suitable for you and to address any questions or concerns you might have.

Pre-Op

Before your surgery, you’ll need to complete some essential preparations. This includes undergoing any necessary medical evaluations to ensure you’re fit for the procedure. You’ll receive comprehensive instructions on how to prepare for the day of the surgery, such as fasting guidelines and medication adjustments. Adhering to these pre-op instructions is crucial for a successful and safe surgical process.

The Procedure

On the day of your Brazilian Butt Lift, anaesthesia or sedation will be administered as planned. The procedure involves the Vaser technique, which uses ultrasound technology to target and liquefy fat cells.

After making a small incision, a probe is inserted to remove fat from specific areas. This fat is then prepared and transferred to enhance your buttocks. The length of the surgery varies but typically ranges from 2-4 hours, depending on the extent of the areas treated.

Aftercare & Recovery

Getting Home

You will be required to be collected by a responsible adult to stay with you for the remainder of the day and overnight. Even if you feel normal, your reaction time will be slower after receiving sedation medication.

Aftercare

  • After your procedure, you’ll receive comprehensive post-operative instructions for a smooth transition home.
  • We provide a 24/7 contact number for any post-surgery questions, ensuring you can always reach us.
  • Your post-surgery care will be overseen by your doctor, supported by our dedicated care team.

What Can I Expect After BBL Surgery?

After the procedure, the buttocks might appear larger initially, a result of the fat grafting process where approximately 85% of the transferred fat survives. As swelling subsides over time, the final shape of your buttocks will emerge.

Common post-surgery experiences include bruising, swelling, and discomfort, manageable with prescribed medications.

Recovery Timeline

Immediate Post-Procedure

You’ll be released into the care of a responsible adult family member or friend.

An overnight hospital stay is not required.

Once home, you must rest and take it easy.

First Two Weeks

Expect to experience soreness and tenderness, but we’ll provide pain relief to minimise discomfort.

Compression garments are always worn post-procedure. You will be instructed on how long you will be required to wear these garments.

During this time follow-up appointments will commence as organised by your care team.

Depending on individual factors, you may be able to return to work around the 2 week mark, but this will vary from patient to patient. Your anticipated individual downtime is discussed during the consultation process with the doctor. Exercise can begin again after approximately 6 weeks post-procedure.

Two Weeks & Beyond

Follow-up appointments will continue as necessary and are scheduled by your care team.

You must continue to wear your compression garments as directed.

A surgical review with your doctor takes place approximately 6-8 weeks post-procedure.

Full recovery occurs around the 6 week mark, with final results evident in 6-12 months.

How Much Does A Brazilian Butt Lift Cost?

The final price for buttock enhancement surgery is influenced by several factors:

  • Doctor Fees: These vary depending on the doctor’s expertise and the location of the clinic.
  • Hospital Fees: Costs here are typically determined by the duration of your procedure and any necessary recovery time in the hospital.
  • Anaesthetic Fees: This covers the cost for the anaesthesia and related medications administered during the procedure.
  • Compression Garment Fees: Post-surgery, patients are provided with compression garments from Levant Cosmetic Surgery, which are included in the total cost.
For precise pricing, a detailed quote will be provided during the consultation.
It's essential to remember that individual results will vary.
Realistic expectations are crucial, and liposuction isn't a solution for body image concerns or a substitute for a healthy lifestyle and exercise.

Why It Pays To Choose A Qualified Doctor

It’s important to consider a doctor’s qualifications and experience when selecting a healthcare professional for cosmetic procedures.

Lower prices often indicate lower quality, potential safety risks, results that may not last, a lack of personalised care, and the potential for additional costs for corrections.

Prioritising quality and expertise is crucial for achieving better outcomes and overall satisfaction.

Brazilian Butt Lift FAQs

What are the risks and potential side effects of Brazilian Butt Lift ?
Potential complications include infection, swelling, bruising, scarring, and changes in skin sensation, such as numbness or tingling. There is also a risk of asymmetry or uneven results, fluid accumulation, and, in rare cases, blood clots or adverse reactions to anaesthesia. It’s essential to have this procedure performed by a qualified and experienced professional who can assess your overall health and medical history and discuss all potential risks with you to ensure a well-informed decision.
How much fat can be safely removed with Brazilian Butt Lift ?
In Australia, there's a maximum limit of five litres of fat that can be safely removed in one liposuction procedure. If more fat needs to be addressed, multiple sessions may be required, which can be discussed during your consultations.
Will I have scarring?
Scarring is a natural outcome of surgery, and the incisions made for Brazilian Butt Lift typically fade over time. The visibility of scars varies among individuals, influenced by factors such as skin type and scarring history.
Can I sit after a BBL?
Post-surgery, you should avoid putting direct pressure on the buttocks to aid the survival of transferred fat cells. If sitting is unavoidable, using a special BBL pillow or leaning forward to reduce buttock pressure is recommended.
Can I have a Brazilian Butt Lift if I don’t have enough fat?
Sufficient fat is necessary for a BBL procedure. If you lack the required fat, alternatives like buttock implants or non-surgical butt lifts might be options.
Can I use someone else’s fat for my BBL?
Using another person's fat for injections is not possible, as the body would reject it, leading to serious health complications. Avoid any doctor who says they can use donor fat for your BBL.
