Before & Afters Vaser Liposuction

As with any surgery, scarring is to be expected. However, the scars from Vaser liposuction are usually small and can fade over time. As everyone is different, how noticeable the scars appear once healed will always vary. In compliance with AHPRA's updated cosmetic surgery advertising guidelines, some before and after images have been blurred. If you would like to book an in-person consultation, we can discuss your specific goals and treatment options.

Vaser Liposuction At A Glance

Vaser liposuction is a surgical procedure that targets excess fat deposits in various areas of the body. For suitable candidates it can remove unwanted fat from areas including the lower abdomen, upper abdomen, hips, thighs, and arms. If you're unable to reduce your excess fat with regular exercise and a healthy diet, Vaser liposuction may be the treatment option for you.
Average Procedure Time 1-4 hours depending on treatment areas
Anaesthetic Type Local with sedation
Hospital Stay Day
TIME OFF WORK 1 week on average depending on multiple factors
Average RECOVERY 6 weeks

Benefits

  • Utilises ultrasound technology to target excess fat cells in each treatment area, potentially causing less trauma to surrounding tissues.
  • The recovery period can vary, but depending on multiple factors including the size and number of areas treated, patients can often return to daily activities within a week.ย
  • The ultrasound energy may enhance collagen production, potentially leading to better skin tightening post-surgery.
  • Capable of targeting various body areas, from larger zones like the abdomen to smaller regions like the chin.

Potential Candidates

If you identify with the following, you may be a candidate for surgery.

  • Youโ€™re looking to target specific areas of fat rather than overall weight loss.
  • Youโ€™re in good health.
  • You are at a stable weight and are committed to a healthy lifestyle to maintain results.
  • You have good skin elasticity.
  • You donโ€™t smoke โ€“ candidates must quit or refrain from smoking before and after the procedure.
  • Youโ€™re not pregnant or nursing.
  • You understand that Vaser lipo is not a substitute for proper diet and exercise and should have realistic goals for the procedure.

What To Expect From Vaser Liposuction

Consultation

During the initial consultations for Vaser liposuction, you’ll meet with one of our qualified doctors. These appointments are an essential step where your medical history, current health status, and treatment goals will be thoroughly discussed.

A Levant Cosmetic Surgery doctor will assess whether you are a suitable candidate for Vaser liposuction and provide a detailed explanation of the procedure, including the potential risks, side effects, and complications. This is also the time for you to ask any questions or express any concerns you may have about the process.

Pre-Op

Before the actual surgery, there are important preparations to be made. You may be required to undergo various medical tests and evaluations to ensure you are physically ready for the procedure.

We will provide you with detailed pre-operative instructions, including guidelines on fasting and medication. You’ll also receive information on what to wear and any specific preparations needed for the day of the surgery. It’s crucial to closely follow these instructions to ensure a smooth and safe surgical experience.

The Procedure

On the day of the Vaser liposuction procedure, you’ll be administered anaesthetic sedation as determined by your doctor.

The Vaser liposuction technique involves the use of ultrasound technology to liquefy fat cells in the targeted areas. An incision will be made, and a thin probe will be inserted to remove the excess fat using suction via a cannula.

The duration of the surgery will depend on the extent of treatment, the specific areas being addressed, and your individual needs, but on average, you can expect surgery to take between 1-4 hours.

Aftercare & Recovery

Getting Home

You will be required to be collected by a responsible adult to stay with you for the remainder of the day and overnight. Even if you feel normal, your reaction time will be slower after receiving sedation medication.

Aftercare

  • After your procedure, you’ll receive comprehensive post-operative instructions for a smooth transition home.
  • We provide a 24/7 contact number for any post-surgery questions, ensuring you can always reach us.
  • Your post-surgery care will be overseen by your doctor, supported by our dedicated care team.

Recovery Timeline

Immediate Post-Procedure

Youโ€™ll be released into the care of a responsible adult family member or friend.

An overnight hospital stay is not required.

Once home, you must rest and take it easy.

First Two Weeks

Expect to experience soreness and tenderness, but we’ll provide pain relief to minimise discomfort.

Compression garments are always worn post-procedure. You will be instructed on how long you will be required to wear these garments.

You should be able to start driving again after a few days.

During this time follow-up appointments will commence as organised by your care team.

Depending on individual factors, you may be able to return to work around the 1 week mark, but this will vary from patient to patient. Your anticipated individual downtime is discussed during the consultation process with the doctor. Exercise can begin again after approximately 6 weeks post-procedure.

Two Weeks & Beyond

Follow-up appointments will continue as necessary and are scheduled by your care team.

You must continue to wear your compression garments as directed.

A surgical review with your doctor takes place approximately 6-8 weeks post-procedure.

Full recovery occurs around the 6 week mark, with final results evident in 6-12 months.

How Much Does Vaser Liposuction Cost?

We recognise that the cost of cosmetic surgery is a significant consideration for many patients. However, it’s important to note that liposuction expenses cannot be standardised into a one-size-fits-all flat fee. The cost of undergoing Vaser liposuction varies among patients and is influenced by several factors, including but not limited to:

  • The number of areas undergoing treatment.
  • The quantity of fat cells to be removed from the targeted areas of the body.
  • The type of IV sedation utilised.
  • The duration of time spent in the operating room.

It's essential to remember that individual results will vary.

Why It Pays To Choose A Qualified Doctor

Choosing the cheapest option is rarely the best choice, especially in healthcare and cosmetic procedures.

Cheaper prices often mean lower quality, safety risks, potentially short-lived results, lack of personalised care, and the possibility of additional costs for corrections.

Prioritising quality and expertise is key to better outcomes and overall satisfaction.

Vaser Liposuction Treatment Areas

Vaser liposuction can be performed on various parts of the body to reduce excess fat. The most commonly treated areas include:

Vaser Liposuction FAQs

What are the risks and potential side effects of Vaser liposuction?
All liposuction procedures - including Vaser liposuction - have inherent risks and side effects to consider before surgery. Potential complications include infection, swelling, bruising, scarring, and changes in skin sensation, such as numbness or tingling. There is also a risk of asymmetry or uneven results, fluid accumulation, and, in rare cases, blood clots or adverse reactions to anaesthesia. Itโ€™s essential to have this procedure performed by a qualified and experienced professional who can assess your overall health and medical history and discuss all potential risks with you to ensure a well-informed decision.
How much fat can be safely removed with Vaser liposuction?
In Australia, there's a maximum limit of five litres of fat that can be safely removed in one liposuction procedure. If more fat needs to be addressed, multiple sessions will be required, which can be discussed during your consultations.
What can I expect regarding loose skin after Vaser liposuction?
After Vaser liposuction, skin tightening can vary depending on individual factors, including pre-existing skin elasticity. The procedure may enhance skin tightening in certain individuals, but these results will differ. Patients with higher skin elasticity may experience firmer skin, while those with less elasticity may notice some excess loose skin in areas like the abdomen.
Will I have scarring?
Scarring is a natural outcome of surgery, and the incisions made for Vaser liposuction typically fade over time. The visibility of scars varies among individuals, influenced by factors such as skin type and scarring history.
Is Vaser liposuction suitable for obese individuals?
Vaser liposuction is not intended for treating obesity; it is not a weight loss surgery. However, at Levant we can offer Mega Liposuction for suitable candidates considering treatment options to remove more significant amounts of fat.
Are there non-surgical alternatives for fat removal?
For non-surgical fat reduction, we offer CoolSculpting, a non-invasive option to reduce fat in specific areas of the body. Itโ€™s only suitable for certain patients and to learn more about this treatment we offer complimentary consultations.
